Traceless Materials - Materials Designed for Nature

traceless offers a holistically sustainable alternative to conventional (bio)plastics. Our innovative, patent-pending technology allows to use food-production residues to produce materials that are compostable under natural composting conditions. While bio-based, our materials don't cause land-use-change, don't need hazardous chemicals and have up to 87% lower CO2 emissions than plastics.

Our innovative advanced biomaterials are an alternative to plastics and bioplastics that are holistically sustainable considering all impact indicators. traceless materials are biobased on agricultural industry residues, home compostable, free of hazardous chemicals, climate friendly and competitive in quality and price. Being based on natural biopolymers that are neither chemically modified nor synthetically polymerized, traceless materials are not considered a plastic material, and therefore do not fall under the EU Plastic Directive.

traceless' holistically sustainable base materials can be further processed by the plastics & composite industry to, among others, flexible films. traceless base materials have thermoplastic characteristics, mechanical and barrier properties comparable to commonly available bioplastics, and are dyeable, printable and heat-sealable. Besides the beneficial properties, flexible films made from traceless can after their use be safely reintroduced into the biological cycle via composting. Under natural composting conditions, they do not only break down in particles small enough for the "compostable label'' to apply, but re-integrate into natural material cycles. As traceless materials are based on natural polymers which already exist in the environment, natural microbes are well adapted to it, and break them down in only 2-9 weeks (depending on their thickness). This means our materials go beyond all available standards for composting - they don't need the enhanced conditions of an industrial composting plant, and even go beyond the available certificates for home composting, which would allow six months for disintegration under environmental conditions.

As composting facilities are not available for all consumers. When disposed of in the residual waste, traceless will be incinerated and used to generate energy. Because our materials are bio-based, the greenhouse gases that are emitted during the incineration correspond to the amount that the plant has absorbed during their growth, making the incineration CO2 neutral and closing the carbon cycle.
